Trong tháng 4 này, hàng loạt tính năng mới đã được các công ty cho ra mắt, hãy cùng xem có điều gì mới với các công cụ quen thuộc dành cho ngành dịch. Program Objectives: XTM là một trong những công cụ được nhiều LSP lớn trong ngành sử dụng cho các dự án dịch thuật vì sự hiệu quả trong quản lý tài nguyên, kiểm soát tiến độ, thuận tiện với người dịch vì có thể dịch ở bất cứ đâu mà không cần cài đặt cũng như không kén chọn dòng máy. Không chỉ thế XTM luôn tìm cách cải tiến các tính năng của mình, ở phiên bản 13.6 ra mắt đầu tháng 4, XTM Beta được tích hợp OpenAI GPT giúp cải thiện chất lượng bản dịch máy dựa trên ngữ cảnh để có được bản dịch chính xác và tự nhiên. Ngoài ra, ở phiên bản này quản lý dự án có thể linh hoạt tắt hay bật tính năng dịch AI cho mỗi cặp ngôn ngữ, tùy chỉnh luồng công việc tùy theo yêu cầu của dự án. Sau khi bước chân ra khỏi cổng trường đại học, bất cứ ai cũng đã từng trải qua cảm giác lo lắng khi bắt đầu làm việc ở một môi trường mới mẻ ít nhất một lần. Nhân dịp tròn 1 năm trở thành thành viên chính thức của Dr.Localize, Karl – chàng linguist trầm tính đã nhận lời chia sẻ trải nghiệm cá nhân. Chúng tôi hy vọng rằng bạn sẽ có thêm được động lực và sự tự tin để nhanh chóng hòa nhập ở môi trường mới. Vậy là sau khi trải qua vài vòng kiểm tra năng lực và phỏng vấn căng thẳng, bạn đã được nhận vào làm việc tại Dr.Localize. Đầu tiên là xin chúc mừng nhé, bạn giỏi lắm đó! Không phải ai cũng có thể vượt qua được bài kiểm tra đầu vào ở đây đâu, điều này hẳn là bạn cũng nhìn ra được sau khi “mướt mồ hôi” đánh vật với mấy đoạn văn trong suốt mấy tiếng đồng hồ, phải không nào? Mà trong lúc làm việc, bạn thấy ai cũng chăm chú nhìn vào màn hình, tiếng gõ phím vang lên không ngớt, khiến bạn cảm thấy thật là ái ngại nếu phải hỏi đồng nghiệp vì sợ họ khó chịu khi bị ngắt dòng suy nghĩ. Thật không dễ dàng phải không nào? Nếu những dòng ở trên phản ánh đúng (tất cả hay phần nào) những tâm tư của bạn trong những ngày bắt đầu giai đoạn thử việc, thì đừng lo lắng gì. Chuyện này rất bình thường mà. Con người ta dễ căng thẳng lo âu trong nhiều tình huống lắm, nhất là khi phải đối mặt với sự thay đổi hay phải làm quen với môi trường mới. Công việc mới mà bạn chưa có kinh nghiệm cũng thế – bạn không cần phải e sợ gì cả, nhưng lo lắng vì điều mà mình chưa hiểu rõ là chuyện thông cảm được. Là một người cũng chỉ mới vào công ty chưa đầy năm, tôi có thể chia sẻ với bạn vài kinh nghiệm của cá nhân mình mà mong rằng bạn sẽ thấy hữu ích trong việc giúp bản thân vượt qua được những e ngại ban đầu nhé. Bản địa hóa vs dịch thuật Đầu tiên, khi đã bước chân vào lĩnh vực mới này, bạn cần xác định rõ tâm lý rằng “bản địa hóa” và “dịch thuật” không đồng nghĩa với nhau. Nắm được sự khác biệt này sẽ giúp bạn có được cái nhìn đúng đắn xuyên suốt quá trình làm việc sau này. Mặc dù bản địa hóa và dịch thuật có điểm tương đồng, hai khái niệm này vẫn có sự khác biệt rõ ràng. Dịch thuật thường chỉ đơn thuần là sự chuyển đổi nội dung từ ngôn ngữ gốc sang ngôn ngữ bạn muốn dịch. Mặc dù đây là cách hiệu quả để giúp người đọc hiểu được ngữ cảnh gốc của tài liệu hay tập tin, có một số thuật ngữ và cụm từ sẽ bị mất đi ý nghĩa ban đầu thông qua dịch thuật đơn giản. Chủ động trên hết Khi mới vào công ty, nhiều khả năng là bạn sẽ thấy khá là “chơi vơi”, lạc lõng và cảm thấy cái gì cũng muốn hỏi, cái gì cũng muốn được giúp đỡ. Nếu bạn may mắn gặp đúng lúc khối lượng công việc chưa cao thì sẽ được trải qua quy trình đào tạo ban đầu đầy đủ, có nhiều cơ hội để đặt câu hỏi và nhận sự trợ giúp. Successful development and implementation of training materials for localization courses, encompassing programs tailored for linguists and translation project managers. Website Launch: Launch of the Wisdom website, creating a centralized hub for our educational resources. Accessibility improvement to the latest specialized knowledge, fostering a community of knowledge enthusiasts. Friendly yet Professional Internship Program “Passion Inspiration”: Utilization of comprehensive training materials for the internship program. Combination of learning and practical experience on real projects, narrowing the gap between theory and practical application. Application of suitable learning methods and tools tailored to the job requirements. Receipt of positive feedback from 100% of the students, who expressed a desire to participate in other internship and training programs, as well as to recommend the courses to friends pursuing localization careers. All students achieving Junior-level results (LQE scores from 85-90) and being eligible to become Dr.Localize freelancers after the internship program. Those interns spending over a month in the role of freelancers have received valuable feedback from Senior linguists and promising to engage in even more projects in the future. The “Passion Inspiration” Internship Program successfully concluded on November 24. The program’s completion marks the success of a memorable journey for interns and program builders alike. With the goal of providing practical experience and knowledge in the localization industry, the program has made an important contribution in providing the foundation and knowledge for interns to develop expertise and necessary skills. During the program, interns participated in real projects while learning from industry experts. The program was not only a place to accumulate knowledge but also an opportunity to develop capabilities, create connections, and foster interaction among interns. The success of the program stems not only from the alignment of experts’ expectations with actual needs but also from the dedicated sharing of knowledge, support from teammates, and positive interaction throughout the internship. The program’s conclusion day provided an occasion for interns to share their insights about the consolidated knowledge, the impact of the program on personal development, and their expectations for future programs. It was also a moment for mentors to express their desires and expectations. Emotions that had been kept throughout the internship were genuinely expressed on the final day, creating a warm atmosphere filled with joy and gratitude from everyone. “Looking back at the small journey that has passed with everyone’s relentless efforts, with trainers working late in the night to correct exercises and lesson plans, and interns balancing learning in the university, part-time work, and the internship program, my heart is filled with incredibly warm. The internship program “Passion Inspiration” officially ended on November 24th after two vibrant months of teaching and learning at Dr.Localize. All of us, from the mentors to the support team, feel nostalgic when recalling the first days of meeting and working with independent, life-loving girls who brought us lots of laughter and youthfulness. Thank you for trusting Dr.Localize to be the one to ignite your passion, sow the seeds of knowledge about localization, and enrich your professional preparation for your future career. The training group awards certificates to interns. We are aware that two months is a brief period in your long educational journey. Therefore, to the best of our ability, we have condensed information, knowledge, and practical experience into the simplest but most pragmatic learning & training program. We hope that, based on the fundamental information provided, you will have the motivation and goals to explore further career development and personal growth. The joy of mentors and program builders lies in witnessing a positive change in learners’ attitudes towards the profession, style of work, and translation quality. “Over the past two months, I’ve learned the appropriate working manners as a translator and editor in the translation process, from receiving tasks, reading instructions, creating a termbase, etc., to editing translations, evaluating, pointing out errors, and suggesting new translation approaches. Before my internship, I never thought that translation would involve so many phases and steps,” said Hai Ly.. “The training program has combined theory and practice, allowing me to apply knowledge to real-life situations. This helps me understand more about how to apply translation and language technology to practical work,” shared by Ngoc Anh.. Listening to these opinions, the trainers have even more confidence in the goal we are pursuing. Bright faces of the internship program We highly appreciate our learners’ proactive collaboration throughout the internship process at our company. In addition to the praises and encouragement, we have regularly received interns’ feedback on the teaching program, guidance, and their expectations. Thu Trang, an active girl, happily contributed, “Sister Cam has solid professional knowledge, demonstrated thoroughly in the suggested translations. However, her instructions could be more engaging and convincing. I think the tone, pace, and way of speaking are factors that can affect this.” Huyen Trang believes that “Due to objective factors and limited time, we haven’t practiced translating Vietnamese-English much and are not clear about choosing the right words.”. As the internship period is limited, Hai Ly also expressed a desire for “a bit more time for the internship, and if the mentors could provide additional guidance, that would be wonderful.” The positive feedback adds more positive energy to us, while the sincere suggestions help us understand the practical needs of the participants and areas where we can excel or need improvement. Thanks to this, we will soon develop more effective programs. Thank you all very much. As the short internship period comes to an end, we hope that what interns have learned and accomplished will be beneficial in shaping their self-image and contributing to their success on their career journey.
Internship Diary No.3
Hanoi, November 27th, 2023 Last Friday was the end of our Internship Program at Dr.Localize. We are somewhat relieved to have successfully completed our plans and goals, but a little bit wistful because we won’t be meeting our interns regularly from now on. In our internship program, those who show up late will be punished by having to sing, which is said to be a penalty, but it seemed more like a reward because they seemed to enjoy it so much. Luckily, they are not often late simply because they enjoy singing. At the end of the training session, whenever we sang, suddenly all the weariness of the day vanished, smiles appeared on everyone’s faces, and bodies swayed to the music. There are times when students are tired after stressful classes and exams, and the practical exercises during the practice hours are challenging, but thanks to the break and fun chatting together, the atmosphere of the class became lively again. Suddenly, the tune of “Last Christmas” that the girls sang suddenly resounded in my head when I recalled those memories. Bringing excitement and camaraderie to interns is one of our goals, and we believe we have achieved that. On the last day, one intern asked, “Will there be more internship programs? when will they be open?” These questions served as an encouragement for program creators, sparking plans for future programs which are specialized ones to supplement the knowledge we may have missed due to the time constraints. We hope that the internship at Dr.Localize becomes an unforgettable memory in their student life. Regardless of where they work or what roles they take on in the future, we hope that Dr.Localize will always hold a special place in their hearts.
